Pinky Tesfay Artist

Pinky finds inspiration in everything around her, from the theatre to film making, from writers and poets to London’s diverse architecture. All these feed her creative imagination, which has found a passionate outlet in painting ever since she was a fifteen year old.

As she is an abstract expressionist her moods and emotions are channelled into her work, often through the filter of music of the 1940s and 50s, which she is particularly influenced by.

For the last 5 years she has been based in her East London studio and her reputation is growing. Often compared to artists like Jackson Pollock, Pinky creates huge original, organic and abstract canvasses using everything from a brush, a hand or an arm – all led by the emotion she is feeling at the time. The actual process of completing a painting can take anything from a day to three years to complete.

“It’s London that really inspires me. It has an amazing energy, always exciting and always changing. Change enriches my craft and my life.”
