Little Comets band
When Little Comets aren’t leading a Pied Piper-esq procession through the Fruit and Veg aisle of your favorite supermarket, they’ll more than likely be playing your local lecture hall or even your Metro carriage on your commute home. Because when it comes to conformity, these Tyneside lads pay about as much attention to the ‘venues to tour lists’ as bonus pocketing bankers do to a worldwide recession.
Formed in 2008, after graduating from university, they immediately wrote lyrics of a somewhat different ilk. Literal, intellectual and witty, they were harmonised over the backing of playful afro-beat and intricate, multi-colored guitar riffs. After signing to major record label, Columbia, their first single, released in October 2009, had instant success, reaching number 3 in the UK Independent Singles Chart while latest single, Joanna, was heard loud and clear in the garage on Coronation Street. Something the boys are very proud of and a true sign of success if there ever was one.
As well as a huge devoted following, the Tyneside quadruplet can count Jo Wiley and Steve Lamacq as fans, as well as touring buddies, Hockey and The Noisettes. This May has seen the band already embark on a full UK headlining tour, whilst the rest of the summer will see them take to European shores for shows in France, Belgium and Holland before heading back to the UK for the festival season and the release of their debut album.
